Culture in Chiclayo exists beyond the time and space of the numerous ancient ruins. For a taste of modern creativity, check out the cultural centers. Most events are free, and $2 is the usual cost for concerts.
• Instituto Nacional de Cultural (INC): (Avenida Luis González 345, Tel: 23-7261 / 22-5848, E-mail: eventosinclambayeque@gmail.com, URL: inc-lambayeque.org) This cultural institute has art exhibits, movies and concerts.
• Alianza Francesa (Cuglievan 644, Tel: 23-7571, E-mail : afchiclayo@netcourier.com) The French Alliance has free movie Fridays at 7 p.m., in addition to lectures and other cultural events.
• Instituto Cultural Peruano Norteamericano (MM Izaga 807, Tel: 23-1241, Fax : 22-7166, URL : www.icpnachi.edu.pe) The North American Peruvian Culture Institute has art exhibits, movies, concerts and literary readings, which occur most eveings, and during the day there are also children's programs.
