One day Chiclayo called down from Mount Olympus to the Muses to accompany the Lord of Sipán. In a park along a brook, as close to the Springs of Helicon as this desert city could provide, reside the nine Muses of Greek mythology. Their pavilions of Classical Greek architecture are surrounded by well-manicured gardens. Clio, who inspired the documentation of history's stories, could be a great Muse for writers.

Getting There
Walk down Avenida Balta Sur, three blocks past Aveida Bolognesi. You will see the principal temple at that intersection.

You Need to Bring: Take along a picnic lunch to share with a beloved in these gardens. Take a bit of caution in the neighborhood to the park; leave valuables behind in your hotel safe.

Within the city are several cultural centers. Visit the Lord of Sipán at his museum in Lambayeque, as well as the Brüning Arcaeological Museum there. The many other archaeological sites and museums in the region.
