Chiclayo's airport is Aeropuerto Capitán FAP José Abelardo Quiñones Gonzales (Avenida Bolognesi s/n, Tel.: 23-3192). LanPeru (Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m.-2 p.m. MM Izaga 770, Tel.: 22-3124) has thrice-daily service to Lima ($128, 1 hour 10-25 minutes) and once daily to Tumbes ($56, 1 hour).
There are buses departing Chiclayo at least once per day from the major bus terminals near the corner of Balta and Bolegnesi. Lima (12 hours) costs about $15 and leaves hourly from Transportes Linea. They also offer hourly service to Trujillo (3 hours) for $5. Chachapoyas (12 hours) costs $8. It's worth it to try and arrange a day bus for this trip, as the scenery is beautiful. Tombes (9 hours) costs $7 and there are two buses daily through Tepsa. Cajamarca (6 hours) is $5 with multiple departures daily with a variety of carriers. Jaén (6 hours) costs about $5, with two companies offering twice daily departures.
Most bus companies have offices on Avenida Bolognesi. Between 7 de Enero and A. La Point are Cruz del Sur, Cial, Civa and Línea. Near Colón is a terminal housing Kuélap, Sol, Zelada, El Cumbe and other companies with service to Chachapoyas, Jaén, Tarapoto, Cajamarca and other Eastern destinations. Between Avenida Luis González and Avenida Grau are Móvil, Flores and Ittsa. Another cluster of depots is on Avenida Leonardo Ortiz and Avenida Cuneo, including Transporte Chiclayo, Oltursa and combis for Pimentel, Santa Rosa and Lambayeque. Terminal Terrestre Epsel (Avenida Sáenz Peña and Avenida Pedro Ruiz) is the interdepartmental bus terminal.
To Lambayeque: $0.50, 15-20 minutes.
To Túcume: Go to Lambayeque first, then take a minivan from the market there ($0.50, 20 minutes)
To Ferreñafe: Bus from Epsel interurbano terminal, $0.70, 1 hour
To Monsefú: combis from bus stop on Avenida Bolognesi, in front of Real Plaza Mall ($0.50, 15-20 minutes).
To Santa Rosa / Pimentel: leaves when full, 0.50 / $0.30
To Máncora / Tumbes: $8 / $9, 6 / 9 hours—Transporte Chiclayo (9:30 p.m., 10 p.m.), El Dorado (11:30 a.m., 9:30 p.m.)
To Piura: $4, 3 hours—Línea (hourly 5 a.m.-8:15 p.m.), Transporte Chiclayo (every 15-30 minutes 5 a.m.-9 p.m.). Also El Dorado
To Trujillo: $4, 3 hours—Línea (hourly 6 a.m.-7 p.m.). Also Transporte Chiclayo, El Dorado.
To Lima: Most buses leave 6:30-9 p.m.,12 hours—Móvil ($30), Cruz del Sur (also 8a.m., $14-38), Civa ($14-17), Cial ($14-27), Línea ($17-30), Flores ($14-24), Ittsa ($24-30)
To Cajamarca: 7.5-9 hours, $7-10—Línea (10:45 a.m., 10 p.m., 10:45 p.m.), El Cumbe (6:45a.m., 7 a.m., 2 p.m., 9:30 p.m.)
To Jaén: $6-9, 5-6.5 hours—Civa (10 a.m.-continues to San Ignacio, 9:30 p.m.), Línea (1:15 p.m., 11 p.m.), Móvil (2 p.m., 11 p.m.)
To Chachapoyas: All buses depart 6-7 p.m., $10-15, 9 hours—Móvil, Civa, Kuélap
To Moyobamba / Tarapoto: Most buses leave 6-7 p.m.,13-14 hours—Cial ($14), Civa ($16-20), Sol (also at noon, 2:30 p.m., $14-17), Móvil ($22)
For Yurimaguas, go to Tarapoto first and catch transport from there.
