To Piura: EPPO (stopping in Los Órganos, El Alto, Talara and Sullana, half-hourly 4 a.m.-7:15 p.m., $4). Also El Dorado and Transporte Chiclayo, 3 hours.

To Chiclayo: Transporte Chiclayo (seven buses daily, $10), El Dorado (9 a.m., 3 buses 9:30 p.m.-midnight, $7-9), Flores (12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., $10), Emtrepsa (9:30 p.m., $8), 5-6 hours.

To Trujillo: El Dorado (9:30 p.m., 11 p.m., $15), Emtrepsa (9:30 p.m., $10), Transporte Chiclayo (5:30 p.m., 10 p.m., $13), Flores (12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., $14), 8-9 hours.

To Lima: Roggero (6 p.m., $20), Cruz del Sur (5:30 p.m., $47-57), Flores (five buses 12:30-8:30 p.m., $24-40), 16-18 hours.

In Máncora you can catch the CIFA bus direct to Machala or Guayaquil, Ecuador, getting you safely through the problematic Aguas Verdes / Huaquillas border (daily 2 p.m. and 9 p.m., $13.35-16.70, 4-6 hours).
