Piura may not offer quite as many things to do as other cities in Peru and what it does offer may not be especially thrilling, but you will be able to find enough activities to keep you busy for a day or two. There is a small selection of museums in town, which can waste an afternoon or two. A walk in the Plaza de Armas also proves entertaining, and is a wonderful place to find a bench and watch the locals continue on their daily business.
There area also day trips available from the town of Piura. One of the most popular is to the Catacaos, where you can see and buy crafts made out of hay, cotton, gold and silver. Another popular destination is the archaeological remains of Narihualá, which is what is left of the Tallan culture. Chulucanas is also renowned for its ceramics.
