In Trujillo, there is its Plaza de Armas, where you can see the locals of Trujillo wander about this quaint park. Also within Trujillo are a couple of museums, including Museo de Juguete and Museo de Arqueología. The colonial mansions are also worth a visit, many have been maintained and give you a sense of what things were like here hundreds of years ago.
Outside of Trujillo there are many archaeological sites that are worth a visit. El Brujo and the mud-brick city of Chan Chan are, in particular, wonderful sites.
