Because Trujillo is a popular stop along the South American tourist trail, the city offers a plethora of hotel types and locations. From budget hostels ($3 and above) to upscale luxury hotels ($100-150), Trujillo can accommodate almost any traveler's needs.
For those interested in exploring the city and its numerous architectural attractions, it is wise to look for accommodation in the downtown district, which has a pleasant colonial feel, but can also be noisy and overcrowded. Those in search of a more relaxed atmosphere may want to look for a place to stay in nearby Huanchaco, only 12 km from Trujillo. This laid-back beach town is also an excellent choice for those heading towards Chan Chan.
Whether you choose a hotel in Trujillo or nearby Huanchaco it is a good idea to make reservations beforehand, especially if traveling in September when the “Festival Internacional de la Primavera y la Marinera” is held and the city swells with visitors.
