While traveling in Peru, it is important to feel safe and at ease and not focus on all the potential diseases you could catch or be constantly worried about safety.
To do this effectively, follow our preparation guidelines and you should be fine. Pharmacies in Peru are fairly common, and usually easy to find. Often you can save yourself a trip to the doctor by heading to the pharmacy, where you can get recommendations from a pharmacist. Good chains are Boticas Fasa, Boticas Tassara and Superfarma. Most towns have a "de turno" system, in which a pharmacy is desinated to be that night's emergency dispenser. Pharmacies usually post the schedule of pharmacies. If you do get sick and need to visit a doctor, in most instances your consulate can give you details of English speaking doctors.
Bring prescription medicines with you, ideally with a copy of your prescription, so that you have the details to be able to pick up more if necessary. Keep your prescription medication in your hand baggage and be sure to carry an extra set of contact lenses or glasses.
