The South American Explorers' Club has a fairly strong presence in Peru, with clubs in both Lima and Cusco. The club houses have a lot to offer to both travelers and ex-pats and are usually a great place to meet other like-minded people. For travelers, the club is an excellent source for maps, guidebooks and general up-to-date safety and travel information. Sometimes excursions are organized, and there are regular weekly events too. Club members get discounts on all of this, plus cheaper deals in many bars, restaurants and tour agencies in Peru. Note: The SAE Clubhouse is closed on Sundays.
