• Huascarán – Huascarán, at 6768 m, is the highest peak in the Peruvian Andes. If you’re a climber, this is a summit not to be missed. If you’re not into mountain climbing, many tour companies offer tours to the base or treks and walks through the valley with good views of the mountain itself.
• Chavín de Huántar—30 km south of Huari, the Chavín de Huántar temple complex should be on the to-do list of anyone with an interest in Peruvian archaeology. It features the largest stone carved buildings in Peru and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1985.
