Huaraz is an adventurers’ paradise and there is no shortage of outdoor activities to try out. Hiking is one of the main things to do here, with numerous options available. The best time for this is between June and September. It is better not to head off on hikes around Huaraz without a knowledgable guide. Climbers will not be disappointed with the volume of climbing activities in the Huaraz area. Talk to a reputable agency to find the best (and safest) deals.
To rest your weary bones after some energetic hiking or climbing, there are hot springs five kilometers away from Huaraz at Monterrey. As to be expected, whitewater rafting and horseback riding options are also available. Or check out some of the local historical sites, such as Chavín de Huántar, the remnants of an early civilization from this area. There is plenty to do in and around Huaraz, to keep you occupied for a number of days.
