Alpamayo Trek

Hiking, Trekking, Climbing

V!VA User‘s Description

In addition to the challenge of tackling the rugged slopes of Alpamayo, this 150-kilometer trek promises captivating views of remote mountain scenery. Adventurers have a number of trekking options in this area, ranging from fairly easy one way treks to full-on 14-to-16-day expeditions. The ice-clad Alpamayo Peak (5,947 meters) is famous for its nearly perfect conical shape, and should only be tackled by experienced mountaineers with proper equipment and experience. A common starting point for this area is Cashapampa, located at the base of Quebrada Santa Cruz.
