Hiking, Trekking, Climbing
V!VA User‘s Description
The main trekking and climbing season around Huaraz is usually from May to September, with the best weather and snow conditions falling between June and July. During the high season most of the best hotels in Huaraz are completely booked. Accommodation is particularly hard to find during the Fiestas Patrias weekend around July 28. Keep in mind that weather in the months leading into and out of the high season are often just as good for trekking. Trail conditions and the degree of technical skill required can change depending on the amount of annual snowfall, so it’s a good idea to check in with a local guide agency regardless of what season you come. Of course, given the fact that this region is literally riddled with treks, you can quite easily alter your alpine itinerary at the last minute.
