Traveler Reviews of Andes Lodge Peru

Excellent lodge in Andean village

I took a bus to the lodge from Huaraz. It was a great trip, passing near Mt. Huascaran (the highest in Peru) and Lake LLanganuco. How good the feeling of being in nature, breathing in the clear and cool air. Yanama is a lodge in a small village that is surrounded by beautiful snow-white mountains. Free from the noise of a populated city, I could really appreciate the andean lifestyle. The pristine nature and authentic andean culture was exactly what I wanted. The owner of the lodge was a great Peruvian guy. He spoke Spanish and English. He gave me a great welcome and showed me the inside the lodge. My room was very clean, with a hot shower and the most comfortable bed in Peru. I could see the beautiful mountains from the big window in my room. The roof was excellent too! I had breakfast on the roof, viewing the mountains and feeling the warm sun. I walked through the village during the day. Everything around me caught my eye. I looked up at the towering trees, I watched the horses, pigs, donkees and chickens. I really got a great sense of the quiet andean lifestyle. I had some beer and wine with the owner at night. It was a unforgettable experience. I'm sure I will go back there again someday.

Andes Lodge Peru

It´s in a great setting surrounded by beautiful mountains and is really close to the Huascaran National Park where you can visit the Llanganuco lakes. The village of Yanama where the lodge is set doesn´t see many tourists, so you can really see how people in the Andes live - most of the women wear traditional dress and all of the villagers speak Quechua as their first language. There´s loads of great hiking around the lodge and it´s virtually guaranteed that you won´t see another tourist whilst you are hiking. You can also rent bikes or go horseback riding.
