Getting to Huaraz
Cruz del Sur
Cruz del Sur

In terms of getting to Huaraz from Lima, go to either Avenida Raymondi or Avenida Fitzcarrald, where you will find the following bus companies: CIVA, Cruz del Sur and Móvil Tours. They offer a variety of buses departing throughout the day and into the evening; the trip generally takes eight hours and costs $10. There are no airports, hence no flights.
Most people leaving Huaraz will either head north to Trujillo or south to Lima. Heading south, most of the above companies will offer departures during the day. Heading north, however, they offer only overnight buses, and you are advised to book at least a day in advance. If you prefer to head to Trujillo in the morning from Huaraz, Empresa de Transportes (located on Av. Manco Cápac) offers a bus leaving at 8 a.m. for about $6 for the coastal town of Casma, and from there you take another bus company, América Express, which has buses heading north along the coast for little more than $2. Brace yourself, however; the trip down the mountain ranges heading towards the coast is both scenic and scary, with many zigzag turns on narrow, unpaved roads. The same buses can also take you from Trujillo to Huaraz— and with the same risks.
Carhuaz, Yungay and Caraz
Leaving near the bridge in Huaraz, there are vans—combis—that depart routinely from Huaraz every half-hour or so, depending on how full they are, and head towards the towns of Carhuaz, Yungay and Caraz. The price ranges from $0.50 - $1.
