V!VA User‘s Description

The Spatuletail Lodge is located just outside the village of Choctamal and the Kuelap ruins. It is managed by the village and the income is split between the employees. The real attraction of the lodge is its proximity to the Kuelap ruins. The ruins can even been seen from one of the lodges large balconies. However, there is also a hot tub and a telescope for visitors to use. Also, if you like hummingbirds, the management has placed several hummingbird feeders around the hotel attracting several of the fluttering little birds. Take day trips from the lodge to Shubet Mountain, Cuchacuella Lake, or the Gran Vilaya valley.

Traveler Reviews of Spatuletail Lodge

Cold and uncomfortable

Rating: 25%

People were pleasant enough and the hotel's concept is great. But, after days of traveling in the Andes, we wanted HOT water and a hot soak. The spa attracted us, but guess what??? The walls were paper thin and didn't reach the ceiling so there was a distinct lack of privacy. Beggars cant be choosers tho and there ain't much around this area..... Just be prepared, since it ain't as marvelous as they would have you believe!
