Transportation
Frequent carros (collective taxis) leave Chachapoyas when full from Jr. Libertad, one block from the market, for Luya and Lámud (0500-1800 daily; 7 soles /$2.30; 1 hour). Mototaxis ply the three kilometers from the main plaza in Luya to Lámud often (0.80 soles /$0.25; 10 minutes). Collective taxis leave from the Plaza in Lámud to Chachapoyas. Alternately, take a mototaxi from Av. de la Vega to Luya, from where transport is more frequent. Daily 6 a.m - 7 a.m., carros to Trita, San Cristóbal del Olto and other villages depart from the placita behind the church where an indigenous statue plays a broken flute.
