Leymebamba is accessible by unpaved road from Celendín and Chachapoyas. Virgen del Carmen has buses to Celendín (Sunday noon, Tuesday, 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., Friday 8 a.m.; 20 soles/$6.60; 10-12 hours), Chachapoyas (Sunday, Thursday, Friday 7 p.m.; 10 soles/$3; 3½ hours), and Rioja (Sunday 7 p.m.; 25 soles/$8.30; 12 hours). Tours Marañón has combis to Celendín (Tuesday, Friday 7:30 a.m.; 20 soles/$6.60; 8 hours). Several other companies run daily combis to Chachapoyas and villages between for the same price as the bus. Carros (collective taxis) charge 15 soles/$4.60 per person to Chachapoyas. Several times a week trucks pass through to Rioja and Cajamarca.
