Transportation

By Lorraine Caputo

Signs along the highway designate the paraderos (stops) for transport to other villages: Chachapoyas, Leymebamba, Santo Tomás and Jalca Grande, among others. On Sundays combis and trucks are frequent until the end of the market. On other days, there is only transport for other villages directly along the Leymebamba-Chachapoyas road. Any transportation plying this route passes through Yerbabuena, from Leymebamba early in the morning (daily 0345-0545; 4 soles /$1.30US) and from Chachapoyas in the afternoon (daily 1430 and 1830, approximately; 8 soles /$2.60US).
