Huancayo to and from Lima:

Getting buses to and from Lima from Huancayo is fairly easy. Buses go regularly, and the trip normally takes about six to seven hours.

Huancayo to Lima:

Cruz del Sur: (Jr, Ayacucho 281, 232-650) has three departures daily (8 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 11 p.m., be sure to get there early).

E.T.U.C.S.A. (Puno 220, 226-524) offers several departures daily, including three overnighters.

Mariscal Cáceres (Calle Real 1245, 216-635) Leaves twice a day (9:30 a.m., 10:30 p.m.) but the buses stop along the way and may not have a bathroom (don't forget: 7 hour trip!).

Lima to Huancayo:

Cruz del Sur has three departures daily (8 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 11 p.m., be sure to get there early). You can book online at: http://www.go2peru.com/ecs3_ing_b.htm

Huancayo to Jauja/Concepción: Little buses leave regularly from the corner of Jr. Amazonas and Av. Giraldez, or you can catch a colectivo at Calle Calixta 531.  The trip to Concepción takes about 20-30 minutes, and about 50 minutes to Jauja.

Huancayo to Huancavelica: If you don’t want to take the scenic train ride, you have some other transportation options.

By car:  Autos depart for Huancavelica whenever they fill up with four passengers from Real 1241, Chilca.  (365-417). At three hours, this is the quickest way to go.

Bus:  TICCLAS (Corner of Ancash & Angaraes) Chilca has several departures daily. Traveling time: about 5 hours.

Huancayo to Ayacucho: this grueling but scenic 12-hour trip is serviced by two companies:

Exp Lobato (Jr. Omar Yali 148, 231-892) has one daily overnight departure (8:30 p.m.)

Molina (Angaraes 334 Chilca, 224501) has four departures (6:30 a.m., 8:00 a.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.). Some of their buses have bathrooms, some don't: check ahead to reserve a seat on one that does if you want a more comfortable trip.

Huancayo to Satipo: a scenic trip down into the jungle. Via La Merced, the trip takes about 9 hours. Via Comas, which is actually more direct, the trip is longer.

Exp Lobato (Jr. Omar Yali 148, 231892) has four daily departures: 7 a.m., 11 p.m., 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Huancayo to Huanuco:

Turismo Central (Ayacucho 274, 223128) departs daily at 10:15 p.m. (7 hours)

The Huancayo-Huancavelica train:

The train to Huancavelica is the best way to reach this city. The station is at Av. Ferrocarril 461 in Chilca (217-294). There are two trains daily, at 6:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. (2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sundays), taking 4 to 5 hours. Prices vary depending on class.
