Churches - Historical Building Huancavelica - Peru

Huancavelica is filled with historic churches on almost all of its main streets. Plaza de Armas is home to the Cathedral de Huancavelica, which still holds mass on Sundays. On the end of Calle Munoz are the Churches of San Fransicso and San Sebastin. San Fransico has large grass covered stairs and San Sebastin has a small fountain near the front entrance. Together the churches make for a nice relaxing alternative to the crowded plaza for enjoying the sunny afternoons in Huancavelica. Santa Domingo on Av. Virrey has a large dome roof which is visible from all parts of the city. Most of the other churches are in various states of disrepair, some no longer have four walls, but when placed against the mountainous background of Huancavelica, all look very beautiful.
