While Huancayo is a fairly large city, travelers should find almost everything they need within five-10 blocks of the Catedral and the main Plaza de Armas, (also referred to by locals as Parque de la Constitucion) on the corner of the streets of Giraldez and Real. However, this sometimes means lots of walking, so if you find yourself getting tired, hop in one of the many taxis servicing the city. Almost every car in Huancayo seems to be a taxi and can drive you almost anywhere you need to go for about $1. It’s always best to go with a marked taxi, though, and agree on a price before hopping in. To call a taxi after dark, Radio Taxi (Tel: 242-424) and Taxi Line (Tel: 212-121) are safe bets.
