Location, location, location. Set in the middle of Plaza Mayor, the El Dorado Plaza Hotel is one of the nicest hotels in Iquitos, with rooms featuring great views of the square. It is within walking distance of the downtown area. Not to be confused with the smaller El Dorado, which has the same owners, this hotel boasts five-star accommodations and impeccable service. In addition to clean, spacious rooms, there is an outdoor pool with a swim-up bar. The hotel also arranges package deals with lodges in the Amazon. For a place like this in cities such as New York or London, you would pay twice as much.
