Arandú Bar

Location:
Malecón Maldonado 113
Iquitos, Peru

Bar, Restaurant

By Kris Dreessen

Malecón Maldonado, the riverside walkway in Iquitos, draws crowds of people each night to watch the sun set, and hang out with street performers who often dance with snakes. Arandú Bar is so close it's part of the action. The bar is beside the walkway and a few steps from one of its well-known landmarks—what looks like a giant picture frame decorated with colorful tiles and set in a fountain. It frames the Amazon beyond. You don't even have to get up from your table take a picture of it. Art is modern and the rock music can get loud. You may have to holler to be heard by your companions if you sit inside. Share tales of recent travels with other adventurers who make Arandú a popular stop.

Price Description: Pilsener beers are about $1.25 to $3 (4 to 10 nuevo soles). soda is less than a dollar (3 nuevo soles).
