Most people traveling to Manu do so with a tour which assists them in getting from Cusco to Manu. It is possible to get to the area without an organized tour, but it is much more difficult, and not usually worth it. Most of the lodging in the area include the trip to Manu in the price. Generally the transport is done in a car or bus, depending on the group size. The drive takes from six to eight hours from Cusco. There is some fabulous scenery along the way, making the ride rather enjoyable. A few boats and planes make the trip to Manu as well, but these tend to operate less often and be more costly.
