Taking advantage of Puerto Maldonado's reputation as one of THE places to go for jungle expeditions in Peru, the Wasai Eco-Lodge welcomes its guests with a thatched hut entrance worthy of a Tarzan movie. As for the rooms, well, their overall high quality and the view they offer of the Madre de Dios River justifies their high price: $36 for a single room, with a bathroom, air-conditioning and access to their swimming pool. A continental breakfast is included, of course, and the dining area also offer lunch and dinner (at an additional cost). Ask the desk about their tours.
