The Wasai Lodge Restaurant is small--only five tables--but it is worth patronizing both for its well-made offerings of continental and Andean cuisine, as well as the great setting: a patio overlooking the Madre de Dios River. Dishes include fillet mignon and pickled beef, not to mention chicken or fish pizzayola, which are served with cheese, oregano, yucca and salad. The small number of tables makes for a higher likelihood of speedier service, and the prices are very reasonable, running about seven or eight dollars a plate.
