Services
Huacachina has no tourism office, though hotels and tour operators gladly step up to the plate. The police station is located across from the village church, next to Hotel Mossone.
There are no banks or ATMs in this hamlet. Among all the trades it practices, Da Silva House exchanges US dollars, Euros and soles (Angela de Perotti, Lote 3).
The number of internet providers can be counted on one hand. All charge $1 per hour.
• Oasis Net at Hostal Salvatierra (Monday-Saturday 9 a.m.-10 p.m.)
• Desert Nights (daily 8 a.m.-10 p.m.)
• Hotel Mossone—only for guests
• Restaurant La Sirena (daily 8 a.m.-10 p.m.), with Skype
La Sirena as well has from service from $0.20 per minute. Forget mailing anything from this postcard-pretty oasis—there is no post office here.
The nearest doctor and pharmacy are in Ica. Some shops may have the most basic of medications.
Along the south side of the lagoon and the passageway next to Hotel Mossone are artisan stands with the usual hand-made jewelry, postcards and other memorabilia of your stay at this magical spot on Planet Earth. Da Silva’s small general store has a book exchange.
