V!VA User‘s Description For being a town that is in a large desert, there is a surprising amount of things to do in Ica. Within the city there are a few interesting museums, such as Museo Regional de Ica, which displays mummy artifacts.
Right outside of Ica there is a large lake called Huacachina Lake that is a big attraction. It offers visitors an oasis from the dusty hot desert surrounding it. In that area dune buggy trips and sand boarding are very popular activities. The
Paracas National Reserve, which is located near Ica, is probably the most popular tourist attraction in the area. It is comprised of the Paracas penisnsula and the surrounding area. One can see many animals there, including crabs, sea lions, orcas, whales and sea turtles. Within this reserve is the Ballestas Islands, which are often referred to as the poor man's Galapagos, and host a great array of wildlife.
