Santuario Señor de Luren - Historical Building Ica - Peru

El Señor de Luren, Ica’s patron saint, has long protected the city form total destruction from natural disasters. Thousands of devotees honor him during Holy Week and the second and third weeks of October. Even though his church was over 60 percent destroyed in the 2007 earthquake, the Señor de Luren survived unscathed. The rubble has been cleared, leaving only the transept and apse for the basis of the new temple. In the meantime, the Señor is venerated in a new church just a block away (Avenida Cutervo and Lima).
