

Moquegua has a great culinary tradition, and travelers shouldn’t miss out on trying those delicacies. The scene, though, does go international, with Italian and Chinese offerings. A dozen restaurants—from roasted chicken shops, BBQ joints and even a chifa—are located around Plaza Alameda (Ca. Ayacucho and Ca. Piura). Cheaper eateries are on Cáceres, near the Avenida Ejército bus terminals. The city market is open until late evening, with food stalls serving up hot food (Av. Balta and Ca. Libertad). Take care, though, after dark in that neighborhood.
