Cerro Blanco - Other Activity Nasca - Peru

Cerro Blanco is not hard to miss in a desert full of dunes, with the Andes rising high beyond. This dune is the highest in the world, looming to a height of 2,078 meters (6,774 ft). It spreads out across the wasteland, eight kilometers (4.8 mi) wide and four kilometers (2.4 mi) long. The ancient Nasca people considered it a sacred place, and its massive size still strikes respectful fear in the hearts of locals. Adventuresome travelers, though, throw all of that aside to enjoy an ultimate adrenaline rush. This mega-dune has become Peru’s premier spot for sandboarding. A number of local agencies offer excursions out to Cerro Blanca, and some even overnight camping.
