V!VA User‘s Description

The area on the Pacific Coast south of Lima may be mostly desert, but there are plenty of attractions that bring in thousands of tourists every year. In Nazca, one can find the famed Nazca Lines, a collection of lines and figures that were etched into the landscape. No one is quite sure what their purpose is, which is part of their allure. Everyone loves a mystery.

The Isas Ballestas, located in the Paracas National Reserve, are another popular site in the area. They are host to a vast wildlife population, for this reason they are often called the Poor Man’s Galapagos. They offer visitors an opportunity to see exotic animals, without a steep price tag.

If you are looking to try something a little out of the ordinary, Sand boarding is just the thing for you. There are many places for people to sand board in the area, in particular outside of Ica and Nazca.

The more museum-oriented kind of people will not be dissapointed with this area. All of the major cities, Nazca, Ica and Pisco have their share of interesting museums. Most are dedicated to Indigenous cultures and study of nearby ruins.
