Safety on the Pacific Coast south of Lima

As with any foreign travel, it is best to use good judgment in everything that you do. Foreign travelers tend to the target of petty crimes such as pick-pocketing. Be aware of your surroundings, and don't carry around unnecessary credit cards or cash. At night, it is best to take taxis rather than walking, even if the distance is short. Also beaches are to be avoided at night, since there tends to be a high danger of robberies after dark.
