When to go

During the summer months (December-March), weather conditions are wonderful on the southern coast of Peru. The air is hot and humid and the sky is blue. During the winter months (May-November), however, the weather can be rather unpleasant. Mornings are chilly and garúa, a drizzling mist, forms.

Some southern coast attractions and their nearby cities—Paracas and Pisco, Huacachina and Ica, as well as Nasca—are popular Peruvian vacation destinations. The high seasons are December-March, Semana Santa (Easter Week) and July-August. Prices, especially for lodging and tours, increase at these times.
