The 2007 tsunami that swept over Paracas is a reminder that this earthquake-prone continent is subject to tidal waves as well. In the case of a tremor, head for as high of ground as possible as fast as possible and follow instructions from public officials. In the realm of personal safety, things are pretty calm in Paracas. Although common sense should be exercised against petty theft. Camping anywhere is not recommended.
