Along the malecón Boulevard Playa Chaco are a number of restaurants. The ones flanking either end of the beach are cheaper, with daily specials (soup, plus main course of fish or chicken) and à la carte dishes. They now have homes in the newly built kiosks, which replaced the post-tsunami shacks. Many close at sunset. Cevichería Edith is a good choice; the señora is willing to do special orders. Lunch specials $1.70-6.70; à la carte $3.35-6.70.
In the center of the promenade are more expensive dining options popular with tourists. À la carte is the norm, though some have special plates at about half the cost. These eateries are open well into the evening. The waitresses eagerly run up to potential clients, showing them the picture menu. À la carte run $6-10.
