Paseo Cívico - City Plaza Tacna - Peru

The Paseo Cívico, Tacna’s Plaza de Armas, is a thin, triangular park. On the broad end is the Catedral de Tacna, a simple yet stunning cathedral designed by Gustave Eiffel and completed in 1854 (daily 7 a.m.-12.30 p.m., 3 p.m.-7.30 p.m.). The church is built form quarry stone and the inside is less ornate than other churches. In the center of the plaza is the beautiful, neoclassic-styled fountain, which also dates from the mid-19th century. The six-meter (20-ft) high has the figures of Poseidon, Amphitrite, Triton and Nereida. Near the point of Paseo Cívico is the Arco Parabólico, an arch commemorating the heroes of the War of the Pacific: Miguel Grau and Francisco Bolognesi.
