Viewing The Ombu Trees - Other Activity Cabo Polonio - Uruguay

The unique and beautiful Ombu trees grow in clusters in the forested area close to town, with some specimens being centuries old. The trees have enormous trunks and provide a home to a variety of wildlife. Tours include taking a small yacht to the peaceful Laguna de Castillos, around where the trees grow, allowing ducks, cormorants and gulls to be spotted. It’s also possible to make a day visit to an estancia that is situated by the forest: contact guardiam@adinet.com.uy.

Location:
From the National Park entrance, the trees can be visited 3km east along the Ruta 10 at km 267 (only possible to visit with a tour).
