Ciudad Vieja Things to See and Do

follow us

You can certainly don a serious pair of walking shoes and do Ciudad Vieja in a day: some of the barrio’s don’t-miss greatest hits including Plaza Independencia and Plaza Matriz, Mercado del Puerto and Sarandi. You could also very easily lose yourself for days in the treasure troves of cafés and historical landmarks, surprising architectural beauties, shopping along Sarandi, and fishing and strolling along the Rambla— all the while soaking in a sense of history. Whatever your game plan, make sure to get all sightseeing done in daylight hours (Ciudad Vieja tends to board up at night) and during weekdays (little but street vendors operate on weekends).
