If ever there were a case of unappealing factors being trumped by the view and proximity to the beach, the Hotel Libertador might be it. Situated just across from the Playa Hermandad—a 100-meter stretch of beach with litter floating in the waves, but don't let that stop you—the lobby does little to invite passersby. The dark, musty common space clearly hasn't been redone in several decades. Take the ancient elevator up to the rooms where you will be surprised to find decently clean, modest rooms complete with kitchenette and fantastic views. With triples starting at $90 dollars a night, it might be a worthwhile choice for the view alone and for groups of budget travelers deciding between hostels or budget hotels. Take note that the neighboring streets aren't exactly tourist-friendly, especially at night.
