On the south side of Plaza Independencia, whitewashed Roman pillars and elegant décor welcome you to this museum. Housing artifacts, furniture and paintings from former Uruguayan presidents, you can examine the intricate detail of the light blue saddle ridden by President MaxÃmo Santos, and admire a wealth of medals and costumes. There are also displays of military figurines. Yet perhaps the most bizarre exhibit is Coquimbo the dog, the former companion of President Venanció Flores, now stuffed for your enjoyment.
