Getting your dirty laundry pile washed, dried and folded is a cinch in Montevideo, but only if you’ve got time to spare. Many lavanderías close early around six o’clock. Drop your clothes off first thing in the morning if you want to see them by nightfall. Otherwise, and sometimes even if you do, you’ll have to wait until the Laundromat opens the next day to pick them up. As with the rest of South America, coin-operated, do-it-yourself Laundromats virtually don’t exist in Uruguay, which means that you’ll have to entrust your laundry to someone else.
