La Pasiva

The aptly named La Pasiva, is a place where people come to be passive, idling away the hours drinking cheap beers and snacking on pizzetas. The mainstays here are hot dogs, chivitos and other minutas. It's one of the spots for watching local and international fútbol games too. Popular for pre-game drinks and popular for drunken munchies, La Pasiva is Uruguay’s ubiquitous diner, open late and with a myriad of locations throughout the city. La Pasiva delivers and accepts credit cards to boot. Daily, 8 a.m.-1 a.m. Fridays until 2 a.m., Saturdays until 3 a.m.

great pizzas

I was born in Uruguay, but now I am an american citizen now. I have lunch and dinner almost every day at La Pasiva. The FAINA is made of cornmeal and when I go there I eat so much I can't stop. When viting Montevideo, Uruguay, you got to go there.

Super Cheap Eats!

The Uruguayan pizza (no cheese) and faina are so good you will want to eat there all the time. There are often buy one get one free specials. Love it! Football (soccer) is usually on during the evening. La Pasivas are all over Montevideo, you can walk from almost anywhere you are staying.
