By Amanda Massello

That’s right, vegetarian food, right in the heart of the land of meat. Not all Uruguayans are fans of the Sunday parrillada. You’ll even find carnivores in here—the food is just that good. The tenedor libre, or all you can eat buffet, includes salads, pastas, and dessert. At around $3, it’s a pretty good value and you can go ahead and plan on skipping dinner after eating here. The Pocitos restaurant on Avenida Brasil, a block up from the beach, is the most elegant of La Vegeteriana's three locations. There’s another one tucked away in Parque Ródo and third in El Centro. Credit cards accepted.
