Montevideo’s most eccentric building features a castle-style rooftop and the bow of a ship emerging at the front, complete with anchor and a headless angel, naturally. The peculiar dream of architect Humberto Pittamiglio, who purchased this land especially for the task, it was built in 1933 and served as his home. Now owned by the Uruguayan Association of Private Property Developers, weekly tours take you to see its maze-like layout, doors that lead nowhere, sculptures and countless nooks and crannies.
