Colonia del Sacramento Things to See and Do

follow us

Most of the activity in Colonia revolves around the Historic Quarter. On any given day, and even more so on weekends, the Quarter is abuzz with throngs of tourists who stroll up and down its worn, narrow streets. Still, there is much more to Colonia than cobblestone streets and colonial buildings. Uruguay has a thriving wine industry and an established wine route. The closest wine producer, Bodega Bernardi, is just a few kilometers away and provides a tour of the facilities and vineyard, as well as a sampling of their delicious wines. Colonia also has kilometers of lovely, quiet beaches along the river. Those who enjoy more active pursuits will find great places for bicycling or horseback riding.
