Swaying in a hammock on the rooftop, one catches glimpses of the tree-brocaded slopes of the Sierra Nevada just a mere block away. This is the Posada Guamanchi, quiet, clean and tastefully furnished. There are rooms with double beds (with private or shared bathroom) and shared rooms with bunk beds. Guests may use the two fully equipped kitchens and the laundry area, and enjoy the cable television in the common room. This is perhaps the best lodging option in Mérida—no matter one’s budget. Owners Joelle and John also operate an expedition company, located in the storefront of the Posada, and another inn in the small Andean village Los Nevados, nestled in the folds of the Sierra Nevada.

Walk up Calle 24 towards Parque Las Heroínas. The Posada is a half-block before the Park, on the right hand side.
