I enjoy writing, in English and Spanish,
and I love to make friends and listen to stories in both of those languages. I'm a writer, a mother, and a Spanish instructor.

Travel philosophy
Be open to the moment.
Craziest place
Haiti. I was only 19, and I wasn't prepared for the poverty I encountered there.
Bizarre experience
Running to keep up with an eighty-year-old woman in the north of Spain, who climbed over stone walls to lead me to a potato patch. I learned how to uproot potatoes, pick cabbage, cook slop for the pigs, milk cows, and other farm chores.
Advice
Don't over plan your trip. Allow the place to sink in before moving on. Don't be worried about seeing everything, because then you end up seeing nothing. Make friends.
Dream destination
I would love to drive from my home in Georgia down the Pan American Highway, ending up in La Tierra del Fuego. If my husband and two teenage sons came with me, I'd be in heaven.
Traveled before
Spain, many times, all over.
Paris, Stockholm, San José, Costa Rica, Mexico, several different cities.
Going next
I'm going to Sonoma, California to attend a conference on dreams.
