I was part of a Pulitzer Prize-winning team in Denver and managed much of Bloomberg News Services's 9/11 coverage in Manhattan. I am currently a freelance writer, editor and marketing consultant.

    The most important thing to pack is a sense of humor -- things will and do go wrong, but it's just part of the adventure.

    A trip around the world, with all destinations being at or south of the Equator.
